Volunteer positions available for the upcoming 2018 Calgary Fiestaval:

Set-Up Team

It takes a lot to put together a production such as Fiestaval!  The Set-up Volunteers will work together with the production crew and Site Managers to set up tents, tables, chairs, moving light equipment and putting up signage.  A great way to gain valuable first hand production and event coordinating experience.

Info/Volunteer Check-in and Merchandise Tent

Help the Volunteer Coordinator check-in volunteers, give them their volunteer T-shirts, hand out Fiestaval programs, direct people to the washrooms and bank machines, take in lost and found items and keep the Info/volunteer tent neat and tidy. A great way to meet people, make conversation all while keeping everything organized and neat.

Kids Area Helper

If you enjoy the laughter of children or if you are bringing your own kids to experience an outdoor cultural festival, this is for you.  Help out the Kids Area Manager with crafts, games, activities, story-time, and various other scheduled fun stuff.  A great way to enjoy a combined dose of culture, contribution and family.

Stage Hand/Curtain Coordinator

Be there on stage in the midst of the action helping bands load in and out, keeping the stage clear of recycling and debris, help hold curtains open and closed in between dance groups and band change overs.  Keep the water stocked for the bands and performers all while getting an up close view and gaining event production experience.

Green Team/ Environmental Educators

One of the most important and rewarding volunteer positions.  You will be trained and supervised by our experts from Green Event Services.   Your responsibilities are to help visitors dispose of and get their waste into the proper Waste Diversion Stations at Fiestaval.  Each station consists of a Compost/Organics waste (Compostable materials), a Bottle and Can Recycling and a Landfill Waste (everything else) receptacle. This is a critical position in the process to make sure we divert as much waste as possible, while at the same time not contaminating the compostable material. A great way to be among all the action, meet and chat with new people and super fun people watching.

Tear-down Team

Just as important as the setting up process, but what goes up, must come down.  Help out the Site Manager and Production Crew with taking down tents, folding up tables, stacking chairs & moving light equipment and taking down signage.  Another valuable experience to have if you are interested in Event Coordinating and Production.

The Floater/Fill-in Volunteer

**A brand new position added this year*** - These volunteers are able to do random tasks and multiple positions in one shift.  They will get called to take over another volunteers shift while they go for a break, cover if a volunteer is late or doesn’t show up for their shift.  This volunteer is willing to jump in and help wherever they are needed at any time. They will have random and ambiguous tasks that arise unscheduled. This volunteer must be able to adapt to change, spontaneous and be a problem solver.  A great way to possibly see and experience a little bit of everything at Fiestaval and gain very valuable experience with Event Coordination.
